If you are a tournament poker player that loves huge series, you’re in for a treat as PokerStars recently released the finalized schedule for the 2011 World Championship of Online Poker. The WCOOP will get started on the fourth of September.

In total there are 62 events to choose from over 22 days, and the guarantees add up to an astounding $30 million. These events include anything from No Limit Hold’em to Pot Limit Omaha and even a No Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 6-max Knockout event.

The series will kick off at 10:00 AM EST on September 4th with a $215 No Limit Hold’em short-handed tournament with a minimum prize pool of $1 million. There are three weeks of tournaments and then things wrap up on the 21st with the $5.2k No Limit Hold’em Main Event.

Not only is the guaranteed prize pool an astounding $5 million, the guaranteed first prize is $1 million! Last year’s Main Event broke records as Tyson Marks, otherwise known as POTTERPOKER, won over $2 million for taking the event down.

If you like high roller events, there are three to choose from this year. The normal No Limit Hold’em High Roller tournament takes place on the first day of the series at 12:00 PM ET. The heads-up version will take place on the 18th. If you like mixed games, you’ll need to be online on the 25th to participate in 8-Game High Roller.

If the series schedule just doesn’t get you excited, then perhaps the leaderboard will help. The top 3 finishers on this leaderboard are in for some fantastic prizes. First place will receive a trophy, an EPT Season 8 Grand Final prize package, a 2012 SCOOP Main Event ticket, a 2012 PCA package, and a Special Edition Chip Set. Second place will receive a 2012 SCOOP Main Event ticket, a 2012 PCA Prize package, and a Special Edition Chip Set. Third place will receive a 2012 SCOOP Main Event ticket and a Special Edition Chip Set.

In September all your free time will be dedicated to grinding SCOOP so that you can win the leaderboard!

Play the PokerStars Red Spade Open

I wrote a couple weeks ago that PokerStars is well known for their amazing Sunday Major tournaments. Their selection of MTTs has been unmatched for quite some time now, and it’s going to take a lot of work before another site is able to catch up.

PokerStars is still number one in the industry when it comes to exciting promotions and announcements. Recently their Sunday schedule got even stronger with the addition of 2 new MTTs.

The first of these new tourneys will occur every week as PokerStars adds a brand new Sunday Major in the Sunday Cubed. It features a $55 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament with an optional $50 for a rebuy and $50 for an add-on. The guarantee is a cool $50,000.

The Sunday Cubed is mainly for those living in the Eastern Hemisphere since it starts at 05:00 ET. If you want to start your Sunday schedule early, this is the perfect event for you. The Sunday Cubed gets started this coming weekend.

The other Sunday addition also has a $55 buy-in and will also happen on July 31st, but that’s where the similarities end. Although I shouldn’t leave out the fact that the Red Spade Open is also a No Limit Hold’em event.

This tournament gets its name from the fact that anyone from Team PokerStars Pro and Team Online will have a $100 bounty on them. You get $100 deposited into your account if you can knock out a player with a red spade beside his/her name. If that doesn’t pique interest, then the eye popping guarantee of $1 million certainly will. A minimum of $200,000 will be awarded to the winner of the event.

For now the Red Spade Open will only replace the Bigger $55 $200k on July 31st, but PokerStars has suggested that we might see it again if everything goes well.
