Bodog is one of the most recognizable gambling brands in the world, and it offers a wide range of online services, including a casino, a sportsbook and a poker room. The poker room is one of the most popular online, and it uses proprietary software that distinguishes Bodog from any other online poker room.
As 2011 closed, the USA-facing aspect of Bodog shut down. Bodog launched a new online service called Bovada, which caters to US players while Bodog continues serving the rest of the world. Despite this division, Bodog Poker and Bovada Poker reside share player pools and boasts one of the largest and most active player populations.
Bodog Poker Bonus
Bodog Poker welcomes all new poker players by awarding a bonus on their first deposit. To claim the bonus, register a new account, and while doing so, enter the appropriate promo code in the “How did you hear about us?” section of the form.
Next, make your initial deposit. The available bonus will be 100% of that deposit up to $1,000. 10% of this bonus is immediately granted, and can be played with!! The rest of the bonus is then earned in increments as follows: $10, $40, $100, $150, $300 and $400.
Welcome and reload bonuses require the player to clear them at the rate of 10 Poker Points (PP’s) per $1 of bonus money. There is no requirement to clear the deposit amount, and the bonus must be fully cleared within 60 days or it is forfeited.
You receive 50 points just by opening an account and then you earn 1 point for $1-$3 in contributed rake and 3 points for every $1 in tournament fees. You also get 1 point for every hour that you play! The poker points earned will release the bonus increments as seen below:
Most other Bodog Poker bonuses are cash bonuses earned by accumulating the necessary number of PPs in advance; in other words, they are pre-cleared and may be cashed out immediately. Wagers placed on in-client blackjack and other side games do not earn PP’s and thus cannot contribute to wagering requirements. Likewise, if you’ve taken advantage of a Bodog Casino bonus, you cannot contribute to its wagering requirement via the poker room blackjack.
Bodog Poker offers a wide range of additional promotions, but the most important one is its loyalty program. On each hand of a cash game where Bodog collects a rake, the poker room awards up to 1 Poker Point to each player who contributed to that rake. These PP’s or comp points convert into dollars at the rate of 100:1, and players can cash in $2,500 worth each month. PP’s also clear bonuses but are not actually used or spent during the bonus clearing process.
Bodog Poker Review
Bodog Poker players can access the poker network via a desktop client and now via the new mobile client. The desktop client requires downloading and installation – there is not “instant play” version any more where you can play directly within your browser (it was a good idea, but too buggy!).
The good news is that there is a version of the Bodog poker client for both Windows and Mac OS X. The bad news is that there is no version for Linux. Both available clients are secure, stable and install and update quickly and smoothly.
The Bodog Poker software has a number of features that distinguish it from other offerings on the market. In addition to English, the client natively supports Spanish and Chinese. It provides access to complete hand histories. These histories are available for download within 24 hours of a game ending.
One of the most unique aspects of Bodog Poker is anonymous tables, which allows you to start fresh every game by playing anonymously. Anonymous tables support a friendlier, funner, and fairer game for several reasons:
– You cannot be singled out and targeted by others.
– You cannot be researched online for playing habits.
– No poker tools can give your opponents any edge on these tables.
Rabbit Cam shows you what-if scenarios after flops and turns. The client also supports a wide range of tournament formats, including Omaha, Shootout, Knockout and Heads-Up, and it has support for in-client side games like blackjack.
As with most online poker rooms, the majority of cash games at Bodog are Texas Hold’em games. Other supported formats include Omaha and 5- and 7-Card Stud. The network supports Hi/Lo, no limit, limit and pot limit. It also supports sit-and-go games and turbo play. Tournaments are available for Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em in standard format as well as shootout, knockout and heads-up. Bodog Poker also allows you to play blackjack without leaving the poker room.
